Growing Wheat

The flour that goes into the making of your toast, bread or buns comes from wheat. Wheat starts life as a seed which is planted by the farmer.

Just like all plants, the wheat seed requires certain things to help it grow.

Look at the pictures below and follow the growth of the plant.

First the farmer has to plough the field and sow the seed

Then the plant begins to grow

The rain gives the plant water

The plant needs sunshine to grow

And when the farmer has harvested all his wheat he sends it to the mill for processing into flour or for animal feed
